"Zebra Racing" - collage of an original watercolour by jane Kerr Wood“Zebra Racing”

This work was auctioned for charity at the exhibition “small works by Great Artists” in September 2005. Proceeds were donated to CARE International in memory of Robin Needham, one of the charities founder members who was killed in the Boxing Day Tsunami. The event was organised by the most amazing girl called Daisy Bell, the neice of Robin. A formidable bundle of energy and determination – she just wouldn't take no for an answer and was even able to sign up celebs such as Sir Paul Mc Cartney to join in.

I was one of the only artist involved who wasn't famous, so it was a tremendous buzz as the event even made the BBC 6 o'clock news and into several of the broadsheet newspapers. Exhibiting side by side with Royal Academicians such as Elizabeth Blackadder and Norman Ackroyd was a real thrill. Damien Hurst and other stars of the contemporary art world such as The Chapman Brothers and Tracy Emin. Anthony Gormley of “Angel of the North” fame had sent a contribution too. This was was fun, as the friend who accompanied me to the exhibition had been a student studying sculpture under him many years before.
